Our blog is to keep family and friends informed of our motorhome journeys.
We have dreamed of this for many years and finally our dream has come true.
We are looking forward to many happy miles ahead.

Final Potluck of Our Time Here & Other Things

28 February 2019

Well, we finally got the cracks and clear coat paint areas repaired at Johnny Walker's. We just had the area above the front window and above the ladder and also a crack below the bedroom slide. It was a 3 1/2 day labor job. When we return in February will have the rest of the areas redone across the back lower panel and area on left side. We were pleased with the job well done...very expensive.

While they were working on it, we stayed across Boulder Highway at Sam's Town for 3 nights. It was OK our $58 room ended up being close to $90 due to a so called resort fee of $26/nt and tax. Have an issue with this. Since John spent most of time in bed due to bad cough and cold, we stayed around the hotel and brought him up soup for nourishment.

Went down to the Lobby one night to see Mystic Falls Laser show..very nice.

Since on Saturday he was not feeling any better, took him over to the ER at Nellis and he was diagnosed with Bronchitis and pneumonia on rt side. Came back with 6 different medications including sinus rinse, inhaler, cough medicine, prednisone and some other meds. It seems to weaken him and has lost his appetite. Has lost weight..not a good way to reduce.

We depart tomorrow for 2 nights in Wickenburg, AZ before going to Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson for the month. In Wickenburg we will meet up with friends, Ernie and Alinda from Oregon. We saw them earlier when they came through on their way to AZ. Looking forward to another visit.

Davis Monthan does not take reservations so we may be in dry camp for several days or weeks. Not something for which we are looking forward. While there we will meet up with friends Connie and Ken from Wichita we met on the road several years ago. Also friends Marta and Bill who live in Tucson. Of course, son Darin and son-in-law Kerry. They just celebrated their 5th Anniversary.

Today, Pat and Darwin organized a going away pot luck for Joy and Kevin and us as we both leave tomorrow. We call it our Circle 1 gathering. There was so much delicious food, good friends. enjoyment, conversation and a real feeling of true friendship. Til next year..safe travels to all and stay in touch.

Hope sent some pictures of the snow in Oregon. It has been a very bad month and more to come.
Don't ever remember it being that bad since we moved there in 1990.

Also LV got some snow..Here is one of campground that Pat sent me.
Another sunset captured while walking Shylo. I am really going to miss our walks. She is such a sweet dog.

February at Campground, Gary Sinise Book Signing and LT Dan Band Concert

01 February-15 February

This is our last month before going to Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson before stopping 2 nights enroute in Wickenburg,AZ.

Where have the almost 4 months gone? Very fast I would say. Weather has had a mix of cold, wind, rain and a dusting of snow in some parts of the city with snow showers predicted for next week. Hoping for warmer weather in Tucson.

Hope sent pictures of the February snowfall in central Oregon. Northwest including Seattle received a lot of snow..making up for drier winters last several years. It is pretty as long as you can stay indoors.

I have been working on our continuing trip through April of 2020. After several changes, think we are ready to finalize. We were going via Kansas and Missouri to Texas and beyond, but decided to head south from the Air Force Academy to NMex,TX,AZ,CA and back at Nellis 1 February before heading up to OR and WA.

We had another Campground gathering in Circle 1 on the 1st with around 25 friends. Due to weather, we have not had as many as years past. An assortment of food was enjoyed by all.

Circle 1 Gathering

On the 8th we drove to Lake Havasu to visit friends Cliff and JIll. This was our 3rd visit. It is a 300 mile rt drive via Hwy 95, but never too far to visit good friends. We had lunch at The Turtle on the lake..very relaxing. Did a walk around old town.Forgot about the time change so we did not get there until noon and left at 5. Wish all states would stay one one time
.
As I have mentioned in previous blogs, we met them in 2013 at Fleetwood in Decatur IN. They have a Southwind, but not traveling as much. Toured their RV and very impressed with interior..more upscale than our Bounder. Lake Havasu is very RV friendly in that you can park your rig beside your home. Think next year we will stay in Parker,CA juist 25 miles south at River Lodge Resort on the Colorado River.

One day we met Chuck and Rose Mary's at Lola's Louisianne Restaurant for lunch. We went with them several years ago for the Sunday Brunch. On Sunday they serve Beignets. Next time we will have to go on Sunday.

On the 11th to celebrate John's 62nd enlistment anniversary in the Air Force, we went to Texas Roadhouse with Kevin and Joy. We always enjoy our visits with them. We had a wonderful, friendly waiter, Fallon. You can tell he really enjoys his job. Thanks again for the great service. Seems all the employees go the extra mile to provide good service and that they like their job.

On the 18th we once again take the motorhome to Johnny Walker to have some paint work done on the area above the front windshield and the back top area to repair the clear coat and some hairpin cracks. Also a crack below the bedroom slideout..They will have to keep it a few days, so we will stay at Sam's Town until repairs are complete.

I have been nursing a cold and cough this week. Seems several in campground also have this. Have been keeping the Vick's rubbed on chest and throat and drinking herbal tea with honey. Also started taking Mucinex DM tablets.

ON the 14th a group of us went to Aliante for Valentine's  Buffet. Always enjoy the conversation and getting together.

Our Valentine's 2019

On the 15th, Gary Sinise will be doing a book signing for his new book, "Grateful American" and later his band LT DAN will be performing on base. Sure you remember his character in "Forest Gump", LT Dan. He has raised over $30 Million for Veterans thru his Foundation. The Foundation serves, honors our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need. They have once again received a 4 star rating from Charity Navigator with a  perfect score of 100. 91% of every dollar goes directly to the foundations programs. I urge you to go to their website garysinisefoundation.com for more info. They also feature a site with apparel with everything made in USA. The LT DAN Band performs at USO shows, military bases and raises money for disabled veterans.

Should have taken the camera for better photos of concert. We sure did enjoy the evening.

John has almost completed reading the book and I will be next. Urge all to buy. Know you will enjoy and get a better understanding of his commitment to veterans and those you serve our country.
