Christmas Season-2018

20 December-25 December 2018

We drove down to South Point Hotel and Casino today in order to visit with the Clydesdale Horses and photo op. They are only appearing 1 day.The event was free including photos, beer and hot cocoa. Lines were long, but fast moving. These horses are from a farm in Fort Collins. When we are in Missouri we plan to visit the Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, home and breeding facility to more than 100 Clydesdales. Reservations should be made well in advance for tours given April thru October on Monday,Tuesday,Thursday, Friday and Saturday 1000AM to 2PM. Tickets are $14.

These horses are magnificent and beautiful. We even got a photo with Santa and another one with a backdrop. We may go back next year.

South Point is also the location of the National Rodeo Finals in December.

One night we went with Joy & Kevin and Phil & Denise to Cracker Barrel for dinner. It is Phil & Denise's last night here. On the way out spotted this adorable Owl and after petting it, couldn't resist buying. He is just so soft. Think I will put him in the window when we travel. Maybe he will ward off the ghost we have been traveling with.

Decorated the iHome for Christmas with decorations from the Dollar Tree and others that have been traveling with us for almost 10 years. Next year will put up lights and maybe add to the bin.

For Christmas eight of us went to Aliante for their buffet dinner. Must say it was very good..one of the best meals we have had in the buffet and a bargain at $18.99. Tomorrow we are going with Pat and Darwin to see Vice. First movie we have been to since last year.

A special thank you to Bill and Lorraine for the can of Popcorn, to Joy and Kevin for delicious pumpkin cake, Pat and Darwin for the cute blinking window ornament and date balls and Ron and Jean for yummy Christmas cookies and trail mix.

Of course goodies not on our low carb low sugar diet, but what the difference..it is Christmas and we enjoyed all. We thank you also for your continued friendship and all our friends who gather at Nellis AFB and Desert Eagle Campground each winter season. Also our good friends, Chuck and Rose Mary and Judy & Dusty who live in Las Vegas. If not for all of you, we probably would not stay as long as we do. Here's to continuing.

Wishing all our friends, family and Very Happy 2019 filled with Blessings,Peace and Happiness.

Potluck and Christmas Lights at Ethel M's Cactus Garden

13-17 December 2018

Our good friends, Ernie and Alinda, from Oregon whom we have known since 1990 were in town for the Rodeo Finals staying at an RV park south of town. We invited them for lunch at the Bagel Cafe on Buffalo, one of our favorite places for lunch. They seemed impressed and enjoyed the lunch, taking leftovers home for dinner and a stop by the decadent dessert area for evening treat. It took all our willpower to pass as we are both on low-carb and low sugar diet..John for his type 2 diabetes and I to loose weight. We will meet up with them 1 and 2 March in Wickenberg  on our way to Tucson.

16 December 2018

Invited Alinda and Ernie to the campground for our Circle 1 potluck and to take a tour of Nellis AFB. A group of us gather every year and this was one of several potlucks in the coming months. There was a long table of food, all very good. So glad you could join us. Wish you could have stayed longer for more touring of the area.

Alinda made us a beautiful Christmas Wreath. Thank you, dear friend.

17 December 2018

Tonight we went with Joy and Kevin to the Ethel M's Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden Christmas Lighting display in Henderson. On the way we stopped at Freddy's in Henderson for dinner. John and I couldn't resist the custard for dessert.

The display consists of over 500,000 lights and 300 different displays. Worth the visit if you live in LV or just visiting at Christmas.

Toured the factory after walking around the display and stopped in gift shop for a purchase. Had never heard of this candy brand before. The company was founded in1981 in Henderson by Forrest Mars Sr used his mother's (Ethel Mars) recipe. Got some milk chocolate dipped cherries..no sugar added. Check out their website at ethelm.com.

Thank you Kevin and Joy for showing us another part of Las Vegas. Probably would never have found it. Also for taking us to the Raceway Christmas lights and Bellagio Christmas display..especially since we don't drive at night. We enjoy your company and, of course, walking Shylo when you are working in the office.

Enjoying Friends at Campground

02 December 2018

In the spirit of the season, Kevin and Joy invited us to go with them to view the Motor Speedway annual Christmas light display last week. The photos do not do justice to the many displays. It is a driving tour that lasts once you begin around an hour. The most delay is the line going in until you pass the Boy Scout food offerings as a fund raiser. We just gave a donation.

Anyway above are some of the photos.

Our neighbor across has a very pretty display and should take first prize. Think last year he took second.

Each year  I get out the Christmas plate that grandsons Ryan and Michael gave us in 2000.

03 December 2018

Tonight we were invited to Celebrate Joy and Kevin's 41st anniversary along with their friends Nellis and JR at Vino's Italian restaurant in the Cannery Casino. Everyone got something different and there were no complaints on the service or the food.John enjoyed his eggplant and I my salmon. Mother used to make him eggplant which he always enjoyed. So into conversation that I forgot to take a photo of group. It was an enjoyable evening and thank you for including us.Sorry I did not take a photo.

Darwin & Pat invited us over along with Bill and Lorraine for dinner. Darwin had prepared a whole chicken and baked potatoes on his Traeger Grill and Pat fixed dressing. I took a salad and Lorraine brought cottage cheese, peaches and pumpkin dessert roll. It was a fun evening. Thank you.

05 December 2018

We rode with Joy and Kevin to the Bagel Cafe for lunch. Denise and Phil joined us. Our first visit this year. On the way out had to stop at the bakery and get a piece of coconut cake and some bagels with craisin cream cheese for later. Definitely not on our diet. We then went with Joy and Kevin to the Bellagio to see their Christmas display. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you Kevin and Joy for chauffeuring us..you are the best.

Once again we were invited over to Pat and Darwin's for homemade chicken noodle soup. I took fruit salad and Texas toast along with remains of coconut cake. Soup was delicious..nothing like homemade soup. Had lots of laughs and good conversation. Thank you.
