Grand Canyon North Rim

28 October 2018

Our 125 mile drive from Pipe Spring took us on Hwy 389 to Fredonia then Hwy 89A to Hwy 67 to North Entrance. We first drove to the Lodge and Visitor Center. The Lodge closed on the 15th and Visitor Center end of month. The North Rim is visited by only 10% of all Grand Canyon visitors. It is over 8,000 ft, has one lodge and one campground. Driving from the North Rim to the South Rim is 4 1/2 hr of 220 miles via Jacob Lake and Flagstaff. John did the Bright Angel Point hike which is steep. I opted out due to altitude and steepness and instead walked around and took photos from the Lodge and parking area.

We then drove the Cape Royal Road that affords several Viewpoints ending at Cape Royal which is 23 miles ow. The road is winding and narrow, but well worth the trip. Vehicles longer than 30 ft not recommended.

Our first viewpoint stop was Vista Encantada.

Next Roosevelt Point

Continuing to Walhalla Overlook

Lastly Cape Royal with hike to Angel's Window overlook and Cape Royal Overlook. This is a mile rt on a level paved trail.

Wish we would have had more time to explore more. It was getting late and we did not get home until 800PM.

Took lots of photos and difficult to choose the best ones.
