A short drive today..3hrs from Del Rio to San Antonio and Fort Sam RV park, our home until the 15th. This is our 7th stay here. It is a vey nice park with full hookups, large pull thru spaces with ample separation between sites. Price is good at $120/wk. There is no WiFi in the campground except at office, but we use our MiFi with Verizon. Very nice commissary and exchange. The usual gate to campground by the cemetery is closed due to construction of road between the cemetery sections. We found the Walters Gate off IH 35 at exit 159B much better and are using that. This is even better than the main gate off Harry Wurzbach across from the Towers.

Fort Sam Houston is now a joint base with Randolph AFB and Lackland AFB and was designated a NHL in 1975. It is one of the Army's oldest installations with the largest collections of historic buildings with the first soldier arriving in 1845.
After settling in, we drove over to son Eric and family who live off 1604 and Evans Road. They have their Christmas decorations and trees up...even one for dog Bailey. Cindy works at home for USAA and Eric works for a specialty advertising company called Baymaregroup. He and a friend have recently started a Tshirt company called Wagetshirts.com with the goal of encouraging people to wage love, hope, peace, forgiveness, kindness and compassion. 10% of net profits will be donated to St Jude's Cancer Research. I ordered 2 long sleeve shirts.

Kendyl is working after school at McAllister's Deli so we decided to go there for dinner. By the way she has been accepted at Oklahoma State University studying Veterinarian Medicine with a scholarship. Congrats Kendyl..job well done. Parker who is soon to be 15 in January is very involved in school activities especially cheerleading. Both girls have a very busy schedule with school and church activities. Keeps Eric and Cindy busy as well. Proud of all of you.

The RV toilet John ordered from PPL in Houston was delivered and John spent all day Saturday taking out the old one and found that the new one was wrong height and had wrong flange fitting. Our old one had 4 bolts and the new models only have 2. So we called them to order one that he feels will fit. As it was too expensive to ship back, we decided to drive the 3 hours to Houston returning the new one and getting another with an adapter kit.He was very impressed with the service and store.
Of course, you can drive in Texas without stopping at Buckee's..one of the best gas stations, mercantile's and food areas in the USA.So we stopped at the one near San Antonio for a sandwich and to browse. I think they are only in Texas so if you pass one, be sure and stop. After picking up the toilet, we stopped at their newest location just west of Houston on IH10..unbelievable..there must be at least 40 gas areas, car wash and gas was only $1.96/gal. We decided to get another sandwich for dinner..sliced sausage with barbeque sauce. Very good. Oh yes, their restrooms are spotless and large stalls. They don't allow tractor trailers either which I think is a good idea..less conjestion etc.
