Packed us a picnic lunch and departed for the 1 hour drive via Hwy 2 to Kootenai Falls and Swinging Bridge between Troy and Libby MT. The Falls is one of the largest free flowing waterfalls in the Northwest. The Falls area is sacred to the Kootenai Indians as a place where they communed with spiritual forces.
The trail goes over an enclosed foot bridge over double railroad tracks, then down some tiered steps to the path to the swinging bridge and falls. The movie "The River Wild" was filmed here in 1994.

The hike to the Swinging Bridge is narrow and rocky with some uphill ascents. The bridge gives a view of the river.

|Yes, we did go on the Bridge|
Returning we then took the short hike down to the Falls. Photos don't do it justice..must be seen to fully appreciate the beauty.
Wore my Advice From a Waterfalls teeshirt for the occasion.
After our picnic, we drove back to the campground spotting 2 deer very close to the road. Just hope they don't get hit.We did stop in Troy for ice cream.
Another good day.
