Our blog is to keep family and friends informed of our motorhome journeys.
We have dreamed of this for many years and finally our dream has come true.
We are looking forward to many happy miles ahead.

Last Days at Nellis FamCamp..Saying Goodby and Heading Down the Road

3  April 2017

Last night we said our goodby's to our friends at RV park and our LV Friends Chuck and Rose Mary. In the afternoon we went to Sunday brunch at Lola's with Chuck and Rose Mary with promise to keep in touch and see them again in 2019. In the evening we went to Cracker Barrel with Pat, Darwin, Lorraine, Bill, Lynda and Bob. John has been wanting the meatloaf that everyone raves about. He was quite pleased. I had  the catfish with broccoli and slaw.

During our 2 months here, have  certainly enjoyed out get togethers, potlucks and circle 1 barbeques that Pat and Darwin have so graciously organized. Have also eaten out more than normal.

Dinner at Ruby Tuesday's

After Dinner Some went to Krispy Cream..we passed.

Again thank you Judy for helping make the curtains for passenger and driver side windows. So much better than the standard ones that come with the motorcoach.

Donna and Larry took their rig over to storage while they are in Alaska. Will return in several weeks.

On Saturday our friends,Phil and Denise, we met last fall here and again in Coronado arrived at campground and we went to Pieology Pizza for catching up on their travels. They have a very sweet dog that is part akita and shepherd. She is so lovable.

We have been following weather and one of the places on way back to Oregon, Lively CA, has snow predicted so we decided to change our plans and leave today taking a different route. We will stop in Tonopah , Border Town, Winnemucca and Burns arriving at Hope's on the 7th.

Have spent the past few weeks planning our trip to Newfoundland in summer of 2018. We will leave Oregon in August this year and go down to California, over to Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Massachusetts,Maine and ferry from Portland to  Nova Scotia,Ferry over to Newfoundland and ferry back to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and back through the middle of USA and eventually back in Oregon in Fall of 2018. We feel this will be our last trip East and maybe we can travel Alaska in 2019.

Today we  left at 730A for Tonopah around 220 miles up 95N. We are staying the night at Tonopah Station Casino RV park. On the drive north of Beatty, had strong cross winds. Wind will continue until late tonight. Man next to us said last week two RV's were blown over in the town. On the way we stopped at the Alien Store and Cat House.. No, John did not visit the Cat House.

Our reason for stopping  in Tonopah was so John could visit several now closed Air Force Station and Base sites as well as Radar sites. They were closed in the 60's and in disrepair. In fact most  of the towns we passed on the way are very sadly deteriorating. Depressing and certainly not an area for settling down. Most were at one time thriving mining areas.
