Our blog is to keep family and friends informed of our motorhome journeys.
We have dreamed of this for many years and finally our dream has come true.
We are looking forward to many happy miles ahead.

Dutch Oven Breakfast, Barbeque,Leticia's ETC

17 March-22 March 2017

Friday John and I have our checkups at the Nellis Family Clinic on base. John's went well and a heart murmur was detected for me, so had an EKG and scheduled for cardio ultrasound and stress test. Anxious to get results which will probably take a week. Not too worried.

Saturday started out with a Dutch Oven Breakfast at Donna and Larry's for our group. Very good. Forgot to take pictures. Anyway the breakfast consisted of eggs, onion, peppers, sausage and cheese cooked in the Dutch Oven and certainly enjoyed. Last year Larry made a cherry cobbler in the Dutch Oven.

Later in the day we all gathered at Pat and Darwin's for cookout. We each brought our entree to grill and side dish.Lots of good eats. We brought bratwurst and I made a slaw recipe and cookies. The slaw had tomatoes, carrots, zucchini, and peppers diced with honey, dijon mustard.

On Sunday Larry and Donna left for a few days to go to Quartzsite, AZ to get solar panels installed on their massive 5th wheel. We all gathered to watch their departure...quite a site. They haul their smart car between the cab and 5th wheel. Can't imagine diving such a huge rig. By the way they are from Alaska,  but will store it here for the summer and until their return.

Monday we went to dinner with Lorraine and Bill at Memphis Barbecue. John and I had the catfish..not as good as Lola's, but still tasty.

Wednesday we met Rose Mary and Chuck at Leticia's Mexican Cantina for lunch. This was our second visit with them over the past several years. A very good restaurant with nice atmosphere. As always, enjoy their company and conversation. We  will get together again at Lola's on the 2nd for brunch.

Below are some interesting photos around the campground. Weather is windy..sure could use a nice rain to wash the pollen off the iHome.

Sunset Looking East

We have decided to skip Alaska in 2018 and instead take the southern route to Florida and up the East Coast to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Feel this will be our last trip East. Maybe in 2019 we can do the Alaska trip.

John got all the repairs done..restringing one of the bedroom shades, new hose and connections for the leak, solving the problem of #2 A/C which turned out to be fuse. Thank goodness he is adept at fixing things.

We depart here on the 5th April for Oregon. Anxious to see Hope,Shawn and grandsons Colt and Cade. We will be there for Cade's 11th birthday and to see all the new calves. They are waiting for 6 to be born any day.

We have had a good visit here this year, but  probably won't be back until 2019.

New Curtains, Potluck,Barbeque and Fireside Chat

6 March-12 March 2017

Wanted to replace the side curtains in Motorhome so friend Judy and I went to Joann's and Hobby Lobby looking for rods and fabric. Found rods at Joann's and fabric at Hobby Lobby. Since I don't sew, Judy insisted on hemming for me. I was going to take the easy way out and use fabric tape. We then had problem of how to hang rods and after trying to screw holders into wall, found this not to be the answer. Judy then suggested we get some of the command holders to set the rod in. Good idea as John was getting very frustrated and about to redesign the whole project.  Anyway, it seems to be working. Only purpose is for privacy at night,so only made one panel for each window, attached rings to fabric using the clip ons and run thru rod. Thanks Judy for all your help. Could not have done it without you.

Daughter Hope sent photo of their newborn calf. She sure is cute. Mother covered her with straw to keep her warm.

Finally had one hummingbird at my feeder. Lorraine has many and even a finch. Guess they don't like my spot.

The Pine,Mulberry and Ash are in full pollen mode. If you shade or touch the pine trees, a cloud  of yellow pollen is emitted. Many are suffering from allergies including John. Fortunately, I do not  have allergies.

NASCAR IN LV  is this weekend, so the campground had a cookout. Lots of yummy food brought by the attendees and a huge cake supplied by staff. This is one of military campgrounds that regularly hosts these events. They  do a good job. Thank you staff.

Friday, Donna and Larry invited several of us over to enjoy their Propane fire pit. Really nice and safe. Campground does not allow open fires, but propane is fine. Besides  it is cleaner and easier. Thanks for a nice evening.

Gathering by the Fire

Several days later we,Bill,Lorraine, Judy & Dusty gathered at Pat and Darwin's for barbeque. Pat made her famous and delicious potato salad and deviled eggs. Everyone brought a side dish and their meat of choice. Had a good time and overate. Seems our circle is the only one that has these gatherings. Good that we can be in the same circle. Pat is good at organizing these get togethers. Thank you.

Yummy Food

13 March 2017

We met Chuck and Rose Mary for lunch at Lola's Louisiana Kitchen Restauarant. They sure know the best restaurants for yummy eats. John and I had the Bronzed Catfish with the best coleslaw ever eaten. The catfish was from Mississippi..seasoned to perfection and very flaky. There are two restaurant locations in LV and we went to the one in Summerlin on Town Center Drive. Dining outside added to the ambiance of the lunch. We have decided to return onthe 2nd for the brunch.
Thank you dear friends for another great lunch and visit.

Blood Drive,Potluck,AF Thunderbirds and Sunset

27 February-05 March 2017

This past week John and I gave blood. I must be in bad shape as I was weak as a kitten most of the day. John was fine.

The campground also hosted a potluck. I took a pasta salad with fresh vegetables, olives and tomatoes. Main fare was fried chicken from Popeye's. Good gathering.

On Monday, Judy and I went thrifting to Deseret and Goodwill with stops at Tuesday Morning and a home store.Found a shirt at Deseret for $2 and some items at Tuesday Morning..a seasoning Judy recommended called "Herbes of Provence".  Used in my spagetti sauce and very good.  Also got a battery operated facial scrub brush and two wine glasses. Total spent for the day less than $15. We had lunch at Mimi's..corn chowder soup and tea. Later went by her daughter's to let dogs out for break. It was a very nice and fun day. Thank you, Judy.

AF Thunderbirds gave 3 shows this weekend on base. One of the reasons we like this campground is to watch the Thunderbirds practice. We also like gathering with our friends each year. Sites are wide and spacious with trees in most for privacy. Bargain for $22/night with full hookups. I am still trying to get that perfect picture of them flying over motorhome..it keep eluding me, but one of these day. Anyway after some 150 over 3 days, chose the best ones.

Also shared the sand dollars I found in California with the gals for their selection.

Saturday evening,a beautiful sunset. Most spectacular and more so in person. LV has some of the most awesome sunsets.
