Last Days At Whidbey

13 September 2016

We are soon to depart Whidbey Island NAS Cliffside RV Park on Thursday for McChord AFB and 2 nights at the base campground Holiday Park and then arriving daughter Hope and family in Redmond OR until the 7 October.

This has been a relaxing stay, enjoying the views of the Juan de Fuca Strait with an occasional Navy ship passing, opening of the crabbing season with thousands of crab pots and crabbers in view, beautiful beach views as well as Mt Baker. We will return in May and again in August.

Finally completed the travel photos on DVD's and planning our next journey. We were originally going to Newfoundland in the summer of 2017, but after much thought and not wanting at this time to do another 10,000 mile trip, decided to stay in WA, MT and UT. hoping to be back in Oregon on the 21st of August for the Solar Eclipse.

We drove into Coupeville one night for dinner. Our intent was to have dinner at Ciao's, but they were hosting a private event so we ate at a local pizza cafe which was very good. Did see a deer wandering the town.

Have not seen the eagle in several weeks and no whale spottings..maybe in May.

I have befriended our host's dog and spoiled him with biscuits. Kai is a very sweet dog. Her cat has also befriended us and likes to curl up on one of our lawn chairs.

After viewing the photos of Jim and Gloria's trip to Alaska, John may be convinced to do that journey in 2018. Sure hope so as I sure would like to do that trip.

Want to thank the staff at Cliffside especially Ken and Diane for making this a beautiful campground. All the flower beds, driftwood signs and works of art very nice and special. Wish all campgrounds were this perfect and ideal.
