Our blog is to keep family and friends informed of our motorhome journeys.
We have dreamed of this for many years and finally our dream has come true.
We are looking forward to many happy miles ahead.

Relaxing Day and Christmas Full Moon

25 December 2015

We spent a quiet Christmas enjoying the day and reflecting on our many blessings with family, friends (many of whom we have met in our travels since 2009) and being thankful that we are able to fulfill our dream of journeys.

Hope, Darin and Eric sent some pictures from Christmas.

After exchanging cards, coffee in bed and breakfast, we took a walk around the campground. We were going to the beach, but the wind had gusts up to 40mph..not ideal for a walk on the beach. Many of the RV's are decorated for the holidays with lights, trees and even those lights that have been advertised on TV that give the illusion of outside lights. Think next year we will get one. John would like for it to be solar, but don't think that will happen.

Got a fairly good picture of the Christmas Full Moon, the first since 1977 and the next one is 2034. John will be 97 and I will be 93. Possible we will see it.

The Class A Motorhome across from us is unique in that it has a pull down patio in back with small kitchen, TV and half bath.Thor makes the Outlaw. Talked with the owners and told that this is first year for the model. Sure seems like an ideal motorhome. Thank you Linda and Jesse for showing it to me.

We depart Coronado on the 1st for March AFB in Riverside and from there will arrive Nellis AFB 5 January until 5 March.

We are still trying to educate ourselves on the Android Samsung phone. Kind of miss my iPhone. Will go back to the Exchange on Monday to get some questions answered. Must say the sound is much better that the old iPhone 5 and we really like the camera..especially the voice command.

We wish all of you a very Happy New Year filled with blessings, health, joy and love.

Boat Christmas Parade San Diego Bay

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

20 December 2015

Tonight we drove down to the Ferry Landing to watch the lighted Christmas boat parade that starts at Shelter Island and goes to the Coronado Bridge. We had a good view from the Ferry pier at the end of Orange Ave in Coronado as they passed. In all there are some 80 boats that participate, but we only stayed for the first part. Still trying to master the Samsung phone camera, so photos aren't so great. Learned later about a feature that you can give voice command to shoot picture. Will say the camera has a lot of good features that iPhone does not have.

New Phones, DElights at Coronado ETC

20 December 2015

On Thursday as we were walking, John dropped his iPhone and shattered the glass so off we went to the Navy Exchange to see what kind of deal we could get on two new phones. Since we have our Mi-fi with ATT, we decided to switch our phones from Verizon as well and get the Samsung Galaxy Notes 5. One of the reasons was pricing and the main is for the superb photos it takes. After using for several days and getting oriented, like the phone;however,  think the iPhone is more user friendly and less complicated..time will tell. Gave my old phone to grandson,Cade.

After leaving Exchange we walked over to the USS ROOSEVELT for some photos. This is a massive ship and is now home ported at the North Island Navy Station in Coronado.

We then walked on Coronado Beach and got photo of Sandcastle.

Later in the evening we had dinner at Pizza Village,a great place for pizza. We then walked over  to the Coronado to get a view of the DElights show and try out the new phone camera.

Weather has gotten cooler with some rain and wind.

Del Coronado Hotel Christmas

16 December 2015

The Del Coronado Hotel, especially during Christmas, has to be the number 1 attraction on Coronado. The Christmas decorations are beautiful..especially the tree, which I am told is decorated in 1 day with a different theme each year. This year's theme is "Making Seasides Bright". In February some of the ornaments are auctioned for charity. Proceeds from Holidays at the Del benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego.

The hotel has been celebrating the holidays in grand style since it's opening in 1888. In 1904 they had the first electrically lit outdoor tree. Everything is done in grand style.

This is the first year to feature the outdoor on the garden patio the light show DElights. The Garden Patio is transformed into a winter wonderland featuring whimsical polar bears, snowflakes and array of icy colors.

The display of outdoor lights around the hotel are beautiful and my photos  don't do it justice. You have to see in person to appreciate the full effect.

In visiting the hotel take in the promenade of shops and restaurants. An experience to remember.

Before our beach walk, got some photos from campground.

We opted for a late afternoon and sunset walk on Coronado Beach one afternoon. California has some beautiful sunsets and an interesting display of earlier porta facilities in use years ago. Don't think this is still in use.

Coronado is our favorite place in California. Across from the bustle of San Diego. From the end of Orange Avenue you can take a passenger ferry across to SeaPort Village, which we will do before leaving. Walking Orange Avenue is relaxing as you pass the many shops and restaurants. Be sure and stop in Bruegger's Bagels for morning coffee and bagel.

We were going to go down to the Ferry to watch the decorated boats parade, but wind and rain gave cause to stay home. Maybe next Sunday. Many of the RV's in campground are decorated for Christmas. Guess next year we need to give more attention to our decorations and even put up some lights and small tree. Getting some good ideas as we walk the campground.
