Arriving Pacific Beach Navy Campground

15 September 2015

Due to impending weather, we decided to depart Cliffside a day early for Pacific Beach Naval Campground. We sure hated to leave this beautiful campground and area as this is one of our favorite campgrounds. Last night took some parting sunset pics.

We took the 930AM ferry from Coupeville to Port Townsend for our drive  down 101 along Hood Canal to 108 and at McCleary 12 and 109 to Pacific Beach. The campground overlooks the Pacific Ocean, but high on cliff with no beach access. This is a short hike or ride and you can drive on the beach. It started raining when we arrived and this weather is expected for the next week.
Our purpose for coming here was to  visit WW II coastal defense sites for John's website. We will be here for 6 nights and then 3 nights at Ft Lewis in Tacoma.

Before boarding the ferry could not resist more deer photos. The little one is so precious grazing next to mama.

As we were first in line,we got best view of crossing. Cost of ow with RV was $65.00.

The campground is mostly empty and the sites long with water and 30amp. Attached to the campground is a Conference Center/motel and cafe. Just wish the weather was sunny.

We have for sure decided to come the Peninsula next time instead of Seattle..less traffic stress and more scenic.
