Colorado National Monument

27 June 2015

We finally got back around 5PM for our tour of the Colorado National Monument. Suggest you enter through the West Entrance as this is closest to Visitor Center. As we started our drive, every stop kept getting better and better. Between us we took over 200 pictures so it has been a tough decision trying to choose the best for my blog. You should allow at least 2 hours for the driving tour with around a dozen viewpoint stops and ending up at the East entrance.

The Rim Rock Drive takes you to the highest point of 6640 ft from 4690 ft at the West Entrance. There are many hiking trails ranging from 0.25 to 8.5 miles. As for us, we enjoy just the short walks to the different viewpoints. Did I mention the temperature was 100 even at this hour. The Rim Rock drive is 23 miles offering breathtaking views of the Valley, to the high country and winding along the plateau rim. At the foot of the canyon sits the town of Fruita.

I won't attempt to name each photo..just enjoy them.

If we had another day, we would like to take the drive in the morning.

Tomorrow we go to Moab UT,a short 2 hour drive.
