Arrival USAFA Colorado Springs

10 June-11 June 2015

Our drive today took us up 135 to 70 and west to Oakley KS with the intent of staying 2 nights at High Plains RV. This seems to be an overnight stop for many. In looking at the weather for the next few days, decided that tomorrow would be best travel day to Colorado Springs. As for the RV Park, it is OK..just off the interstate..would not stay more than 1 or 2 nights. Website is not true to picture.

11 June 2015

Our drive today via IH 70 to Limon and then 24 south to Woodman and Academy Dr into the USAFA southgate. Stopped in Limon at Pilot for gas and slice of pizza for lunch.

This is our 3rd stay at the Academy FamCamp Peregrine Pines and one of our favorites. They were able to take us a day early and we got a choice spot #64..full hookups, satellite accessible, next to woods and large space.Maybe this time, I will see a bear and some deer for a photo opt..so far only a black squirrel. Our previous stays were in September of 2011 and 2012.

Tonight we had a severe thunderstorm warning and a hard rain which was good as it washed most of those pesky black flies off the coach. Temperature in the 60's..what a relief from 90 degree heat and humidity..slept with the windows open.

While we are here we plan to visit friends from Nellis who live in Castle Rock and Pueblo.
