Our blog is to keep family and friends informed of our motorhome journeys.
We have dreamed of this for many years and finally our dream has come true.
We are looking forward to many happy miles ahead.

Arrival San Antonio & Fort Sam Houston Famcamp

1 May 2015

Our departure today to San Antonio took us down Hwy 87 to 83 to IH10..about a 3 1/2 hr drive..200 miles. At the junction of IH10 and 83 is Cooper's Barbeque so we stopped for lunch. This is one of John's favorite. As for me, I prefer Carolina barbecue.

The Texas wildflowers were beautiful along IH 10. Riding down the road with lots of bugs on windshield hard to get good photos.

We arrived at Fort Sam Houston FAMCAMP around 2 PM. This is our 4th stay here and the reason we come is to visit sons Darin and Eric and friends. Tomorrow is Eric's 47th birthday, but due to their busy schedule, we won't see him until Sunday when we take him out to dinner.

Tomorrow we will have dinner with son Darin and Kerry. Anxious to see their new home.

Thunderstorms are predicted Monday for a week. Guess we shouldn't have been so anxious to clean the iHome when we got here. Just had to get those pesky bugs off. We are back in mosquito country, so will get out the Eucalyptus lotion.

At some point yesterday in traveling, one of the glass closet doors fell out and broke. Now to deal with this issue. Fortunately the glass did not break..just the wood frame in several spots. Will call Fleetwood Monday to see if they can replace..if not, will look into getting accordion doors.

This is a very nice campground with full hookups and large concrete pads with good space between the sites. Not bad for $20/day.Only down issue is no Wi-Fi except in office, so we will be using our Mi-Fi card.

From here on the 26th we go up to Austin and Hacienda Resort on Lake Travis for a week to visit with daughter Christine and family. Then we go up to Denton to visit with Liz and grandsons. Ryan's HS graduation is on the 6th.

Hope and family have added two pigs for Colt's 4H project this summer and the cows presented them with two calves.Always something going on there and such a good education for Colt and Cade.
