Arrival San Angelo TX

26 April 2015

Our drive from Lubbock to San Angelo took 4 hours via Hwy 84/I 20/Hwy 70 and 277 taking us past cotton fields, oil fields and Roscoe home to one of the largest windfarms in the world. It goes on for miles and miles..634 wind turbines..spans 4 Texas counties..covers 100,000 acres and cost over $1B...supplies more than 250,000 homes with power.

Our campsite at Goodfellow AFB Recreation area #14 overlooks Lake Nasworthy and marina. We have full hookups for $20/day. The marina offers boat, kayak and paddle board rentals. The picnic area is treed and very large. A great family area for retired and active militay as well as DOD. The pool is not yet open..probably Memorial Day. Nice walking area.

The evening brought us one of those severe Texas thunderstorms with high winds and some hail. We will be here for 5 nights before arriving in San Antonio until the 26th of May.
