Las Vegas to Wickenburg and Globe AZ

1 March 2015

We said our goodby's, filled the Bounder with gas at a cost of $2.65/gal up from $2.25 on the 25th and headed south on 93 via Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Kingman and finally arriving in Wickenburg AZ to pouring rain. Should have stayed in LV another 2 days.   Just north of Wickenburg we passed a bad motorcycle and car accident. Upon arrival at Hospitality RV Park we were greeted by a very nice staff. Park is OK, but spaces close. Horses are welcome and pens and exercise area provided.

As we were leaving, one of the workers told us a better way to Globe in order to avoid Phoenix traffic. Very good advice. We will be staying in Globe for 2 nights before going to Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson. The Apache Gold Casino RV Park is 6 miles east of Globe on Hwy 70 with full hookups and $22/nt with Good Sam Discount. There is gas station, casino and convenience store within the park. Only reason for coming here was to visit Fort Apache some 90 miles NE. Drive into Globe via Hwy 60east afforded some spectacular canyon views. Just don't be in a hurry and take advantage of view turnouts.
