Catching Up

20 January 2015

My blog has been silent since my last entry on the 3 January. This is our 3rd visit to Nellis AFB Famcamp, so we are just relaxing and visiting with friends who live in LV and campground friends we have met in the past. I am also consumed with organizing the iPhoto disc that was recovered as mentioned in a past posting. Have managed to get the 120,000 images down to 36,000 with 15,000 yet to delete. I am just thankful that most of our travels up until 2013 were already on DVD's, so that has helped in naming places. Most of the grandkids and children were also on DVD's.

We met our good friends Rose Mary and Chuck for lunch at "The Bagel Cafe"  and had a very nice visit. We will get together with them again several times before we leave.

We finally got moved from the "wagonwheel" area to a much better spot in circle 1 site 8 near our friends. We were in this area last year.

Our first get together was a spaghetti dinner with Pat & Darwin,Bob & Joyce and Dusty and Judy. Pat made a delicious spaghetti sauce, I took the pasta, Joyce made a very healthy salad and Judy supplied the dessert. Felt like old times catching up.

We had a good group last Saturday for John Mull's Roadkill barbeque, one of the best in LV. 12 of us got together for that.A very laid back, stand in line and delicious fixins. A must if you visit LV.

Yesterday we all got together once again at Pat & Darwin's for Barbeque and all the side dishes with dessert. There were 14 partaking of the good food that was contributed by all. The fare included tri-tips,ribs,slaw,potato salad, baked beans, poppers, grilled pineapple and an array of desserts. Needless to say this was lunch and dinner. John and I took a walk after this.

Snickers and Misty joined us. Snickers is Pat & Darwin's cute dog and Misty belongs to Bill & Loraine.
Both are very well behaved and I got my dog fix in for the day.

Arrival Nellis AFB

3 January 2015

After a 5hr drive from Seal Beach,CA via 405/605/210 and I15 we arrived for our 3rd stay at Nellis AFB RV Park Desert Eagle.

Upon checkin instead of getting one of the more desirable sites like we have had in the past, we were put in side site in what they all the wagon wheels #101. Even though we made reservations 6 mos ago, it is still first come choice. so we will make the best of it and hope they move us to a pull thru or backin site. Weather is still chilly, but clear. Visited with friends from last year after getting set up.

A beautiful sunset and full moon.

Hope sent photos of new addition to their steers, a newborn male calf. Isn't he precious? They named him Frosty since he was born in the snow. He and mama were moved to friend who has a barn to keep  them warm. Wish he could  live his life in a nice meadow.

On Tuesday we are meeting friends Chuck and Rose Mary at the Bagel Cafe for lunch..a favorite of ours.

I have managed to weed my photos on the recovery to 37,000 from 120,000 and will continue to do this until I get to original 20,000. This will keep me busy for our 2 month stay here. Putting titles and dates to them will be the most difficult chore.
