Family Celebration

28 February-2 March 2014

"Life is not measured by the number of memories, but the moments that make the memories" unknown.

This is a very special weekend for a family gathering in Las Vegas to celebrate Kerry's Birthday. A chance to meet some of his family and they ours. In all there will be around 24 in attendance. Darin and Kerry did a great job in planning the weekend.

Everyone will be staying at New York, New York hotel. Of course we will be in the campground at Nellis AFB and in charge of the airport shuttling of our five kids.

We all met for dinner hosted by Darin and Kerry at Grimaldi's Pizza in the Palazzo Hotel. Must say the pizza was best we have experienced. Service was superb and we had a private area. Did manage to get a group picture and only several missing who will arrive tomorrow. Weather was very rainy and cool, but who cares. Oh yes, when we were in the NYNY casino, John was propositioned by what he described as a very attractive woman. Prostitution is illegal in Vegas, but happens anyway. I mentioned that I never get approached and we had a good laugh.

Weather is clearing today and we have another airport run to pickup daughter Christine. The airport here is like a zoo. So much bigger than the last time we flew in here back in the 90's. I think the last time we flew was in 2006 for John's 50th HS reunion in Falls Church, VA.  Don't miss it at all. But I digress..back to events of the day.

The room reserved for the dinner tonight was perfection in all ways from location to table settings. Darin and Kerry sure know how to plan with every detail.

After cocktails and appetizers, we were gathered for a formal announcement of their declaration of union and love for each other.

Announcement of Vows

This was a pleasant surprise and we welcome Kerry into our family and wish them many years of happiness. Shawn gave the invitation to family to join them in their vows and commitment to each other and the exchange of rings followed by their own vows to each other. We then congratulated them with a champagne toast.

Today we say goodby to family and shuttle kids to airport. May they all have a safe trip home. We love you all. Thank you Darin and Kerry for making this a wonderful weekend.

  1. Just loved seeing all your family pics. What a nice ceremony and so happy that you were all able to be there to help celebrate their union. And that cake was amazing.

  2. Such a fun weekend. I loved seeing everyone and wished we could have had longer. Much love and thanks for shuttling us to and from the airport! See y'all soon. Love, Hope
