On to Albuquerque

19 March 2013

Left Flagstaff KOA around 900A for the 325 mile drive east on IH40.
Not a scenic drive except for cliff formations at the AZ/NM stateline at exit 364.

We arrived at Kirtland AFB around 530P after several stops enroute. We will be here until the 26th. The campground seems very nice with wide and long gravel full hookup sites for $18/day. Nice dogpark and laundry.
Good location for touring Albuquerque and areas. Would definitely stay here again,

Kirtland is third largest installation in Air Force Material Command Nuclear Weapons Center. It was built in 1942.

While in Albuquerque we want to drive up to Santa Fe, do the Sandia Aerial Tramway, tour Old Town and visit the Nuclear Museum. Maybe one of these days we can be here for the October Balloon Fest.
